Unmada appears as an ancient holy man from India. Devoted to the mortification of the flesh to gain wisdom, his body is punctured with hundreds of metal wires, wooden barbs and bone hooks. He carries a pointed wooden staff with him that he uses when he walks.
Calling for unity in the face of reckless violence by the anarchs and mortals, it was Unmada’s urging that drove the Malkavians to join the Camarilla. Many believe that if the clan had not listened to his advice the Malkavians would probably be extinct.
But that was not enough. Believing that Malkavians were too crazy to safely be part of the Camarilla, Unmada along with five other Methuselahs called all the Malks to one spot in Europe where they performed a grand ritual that replaced Dementation with Dominate within the clan.
Not every Malk joined in the ritual. The Sabbat Malkavians refused to participate and for almost 500 years only the antitribu carried Dementation. In 1997 the “Reawakening” occurred and Dementation returned to all Malkavians.
No one knows how his happened. Some believe the death of the Ravnos Antediluvian during the Week of Nightmares in 1999 was so powerful it sent psychic ripples back in time that shattered Unmada’s ritual. Others think that maybe Malkav himself had something to do with it.
