Know Your Kindred – Rico Loco

ricolocoName:  Rico Loco
Clan:  Ventrue antitribu
Generation:  13th
Embrace:  1972

Rico is a complete maniac.  Most Sabbat think he is out of his mind.  But that doesn’t prevent some of them from admiring him.  If the Black Hand has one complaint about Rico, it’s that when he kills an enemy he generally leaves nothing to diablerize.

He is highly skilled at making and planting bombs.  He can build a variety of remotely controlled, timed or bobby-trapped devices, but prefers to watch his explosions.

Rico became a bomb maker in college.  He joined a radical leftist group and together they would blow up billboards belonging to corporations they didn’t like.  Rico felt his friends were wonderfully dangerous.  He took it a step further and blew up a police station.  His friends weren’t that radical and Rico found himself alone and on the run.  That’s when the Sabbat found him.

They were looking for a bomb-throwing revolutionary and Rico fell instantly in love with a pack member, Rosa-Maria.  He took on her cause against the Camarilla, who Rosa explained were the ones truly responsible for the oppression of the world.  As Rosa-Maria’s ghoul, Rico destroyed the havens of several enemies.  Eventually Rico earned the Embrace and he found his new existence carried blessings with its curses.  His body grew tougher, his eye sight perfect, injuries quickly healed.  He flaunted his new abilities, fought the power and blew stuff up.  For Rico, being Sabbat rocked!

Eventually Rico was honored to be invited into the Black Hand as a cadet.

Rico doesn’t care who his target is, Camarilla, Sabbat, independent, mortal or other.  He just likes to make a big boom.

Rico only feeds on service station attendants.  He likes the hint of oil and gasoline in their blood.

Rico looks like a pale, skinny and unshaven young man with unkept black hair.  He wears a scorched, chemical-stained leather jacket.  He never wears synthetic fibers, since they melt and stick when burned.  He smells of gasoline and chemicals.  He often asks people to speak up and talks loudly himself, because his explosive experiments in his mortal days left him slightly deaf.

Know Your Kindred – Owain Evans, The Wanderer

owainevansthewandererName:  Owain Evans, The Wanderer

Clan:  Ventrue antitribu
Generation:  Maybe 6th
Embrace:  1053

Owain Evans has the power to heal others with his blood.  He obtained this ability after he drank the blood of Joseph of Arimathea centuries ago. But he did not understand the true nature of this power until 1999 when the Kindred world was in the grip of a mysterious blood curse.

This blood curse was striking at Kindred, creating an uncontrollable hunger that would never go away, no matter how much the vampire tried to quench their thirst, they would still feel starved.  Eventually the curse would trigger the Beast within them to rise up, until they were completely lost to it.

After discovering his power and understanding its origin, Owain became known as the Wanderer, and he traveled around the world seeking to cure any and all Cainites from the curse.

Owain is originally from a small Welsh kingdom called Rhufoniog.  After emerging from torpor in the 17th century, he came to America where he became a prominent, but unobtrusive member of Atlanta’s Kindred community.

Know Your Kindred – Reginald Moore

reginaldmooreName:  Reginald Moore
Clan:  Brujah (but really Ventrue)
Generation:  8th
Embraced:  1840

In life, Reginald was an intelligent boy from a lower class family.  He was a dedicated student who taught himself Latin and Greek.  Unable to find a career to support himself, Reginald spent his nights drinking and roaming the streets in sadness.

Reginald’s Embrace was the result of a feeding gone wrong.  He was attacked by a starved Ventrue named Donal, who was in the midst of a frenzy.  The attack nearly killed Reginald, so to cover up his folly the Ventrue tried to turn Reginald into a ghoul, but then on impulse decided to Embrace him instead.

One of Donal’s rivals, an elder Brujah, witnessed the whole event and intervened, killing Donal.  Reginald has no memory of the event, but the Brujah took him under his wing and claimed him as his own childe.

Reginald knew little about the vampire world, but he took it upon himself to sharpen his wits and soon he found himself welcomed within the ranks of the Brujah clan, where knowledge and debate skills were respected.  Reginald finally achieved the status he wanted his whole life and he eventually became London’s Brujah primogen.

Since London was run by the Ventrue, Reginald had no interest in rocking the boat.  He favored intellectual gatherings over physical fights.  Since Reginald never intended to become a combative Brujah, he never learned Celerity or Potence, focusing exclusively on Presence only.

Reginald’s true linage could be discovered if it was ever investigated or by a simple act of Thaumaturgy.  Such a revelation would destroy Reginald and greatly humiliate the Brujah.  Just to be safe, Reginald’s “sire” has instilled in him an absolute terror of Thaumaturgy, which manifests as a hatred and distrust of all Tremere.

Reginald is in his early 20s, with curly black hair and pale skin.  He tries to look like a businessman, but he is rough around the edges both physically and socially.  His lack of funds result in a small wardrobe of ill-fitting suits.  He tries to relax when he’s with other Brujah, but he is still uncomfortable around them, just as they are typically uncomfortable with him.
